From Cruise Port: Auckland
Your Kayak experience begins when we meet you at the Cruise ship for a short journey by road to our launch beach at the St Heliers Central Boat Ramp on Tamaki Drive. Here you will meet your guides and receive your safety briefing and will be kitted out for the trip.
This half day paddle is the perfect trip for anyone who wants a exciting and informative day on Auckland's Waitamata Harbor. Browns Island, also known as Motukorea (island of the pied Oyster catcher bird) is one of the best preserved volcanoes in the Auckland Volcanic Field. Private boats and sea kayaks are the only means of access to this untouched island.
On arriving at Motukorea, we trek to the summit, taking in the panoramic views as we go and learning about the island's fascinating history. There are three ancient pa sites on the island (Maori fortified village), with the largest occupying the slopes of the main scoria cone.
Light refreshments are provided on the island before we head back across the harbour into Auckland.
Please note that as were are visiting an ecological reserve where we aim to keep these islands pest free, it would be good if you can visit the website at www.treasureislands.co.nz to get the full information about visiting these gems of the Hauraki Gulf.
